[ARCHIVED] Public Meetings Scheduled to Discuss Proposed Amendments to the 2015 LDRs

GALVESTON, TX (January 5, 2018) – To aid communications and enhance community engagement, the City of Galveston is encouraging citizens and business  operators to attend two public meetings Wednesday January 17th, and Wednesday January 24th, 2018 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM in the McGuire Dent Recreation Center, located at 2222 28th Street, Galveston, TX 77551 regarding proposed amendments to the LDRs.

Proposed Changes

The City of Galveston rewrote the previous 1991 Zoning Standards in their entirety, which resulted in the 2015 adoption of the current LDRs. Since that time, through public input and staff-identified need for clarifications of the 2015 LDRs, numerous but relatively non-voluminous areas of the regulations are proposed in a continued effort to operate more efficiently for both staff and applicants.

While the bulk of the changes are more ministerial in nature, there are a number that are more policy related and will have an impact on the development community. Staff intends to describe these changes at the first meeting and to take questions related thereto. At the second meeting the public will have another opportunity to voice either concerns or support for the proposed regulations.

Public  Input Welcomed

Representatives from Development Services will be available at the public meetings to answer questions and concerns the public may have regarding the proposed changes. If members of the public cannot make the public meeting and have a comment, they may call Development Services at (409)797-3660, visit the offices at 823 Rosenberg, or by email amontalvan@galvestontx.gov. For requests for reasonable meeting accommodations, call (409-797-3660) at least five days prior to each meeting.
