Galveston, TX – March 25, 2020 – The City of Galveston will continue providing all city services under the Stay at Home order; however, the City of Galveston has reduced its staff effective Wednesday, March 25, 2020. This may result in delays for certain services and we ask for the public’s patience during this time.
A City of Galveston Stay at Home order is in effect until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2020. City services are considered essential business activities and will continue for the duration of the order.
To reduce the risk to the public and our workforce, the City of Galveston has reduced staff in some departments. Still, every department within the City of Galveston will be staffed to some capacity to provide continuity of essential city services, including development services, utility billing, and sanitation services.
The Galveston Police Department and Galveston Fire Department are operating with normal staff, but practicing safe social distancing practices and taking extra precautions.
Our top priorities are providing residents essential city services while also protecting the health of our workforce. Protecting the health of the workforce ensures continuity of services.
We are encouraging city services to be handled online or by phone where possible. A directory of the department numbers is available online at https://www.galvestontx.gov/152/Departments .
