The City of Galveston is excited to announce that the 2020 community pool season has begun.
The city’s public pool opened Sunday morning at 10 a.m. as the kick off to the season. Throughout the spring, the lap pool will be open; however, the splash pool is not heated and will be closed if the water temperature is below 78 degrees.
The pool will have extended hours during spring break from March 9th to March 13th. After spring break, the pool will operate on spring season hours, which are listed on the next page.
The community pool provides residents with a state-of-the-art facility, including a recreational pool with kid-friendly play structures and a slide, as well as an eight-lane short course yard pool for hosting swim meets. The community pool is located at 2016 43rd St. near Ball High School.
“Galveston’s public pool has one of the longest seasons in Texas and this is a great benefit for our residents,” City Manager Brian Maxwell said. “The pool serves countless island residents by providing a place to swim that is both safe and affordable.”
