Galveston Municipal Court announces amnesty program, beginning Sept. 3

Galveston, TX – September 3, 2019 – The Galveston Municipal Court will offer a nearly month-long amnesty period to provide an opportunity for people to pay outstanding tickets at a reduced rate and clear outstanding warrants.

The City of Galveston Municipal Court’s Amnesty Program begins at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, and will be available on certain delinquent citations until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2019.  Court officials encourage anyone who has delinquent court matters to take advantage of this opportunity to resolve cases at a discounted rate.

The savings come from waiving late fees and failure to appear fees, as well as some court costs.

Most delinquent traffic and non-traffic citations will be eligible for program discounts.  However, previously adjudicated cases, capias pro fines, and parking citations are not eligible for amnesty rates.

Court officials urge people to take advantage of this program so they will not be subject to arrest during any upcoming warrant sweeps.
