City accepting applications, interviewing for multiple boards

Galveston, TX- August 1, 2019 -  The City of Galveston is now accepting applications for four boards. 

The Landmark Commission works to protect, enhance, and promote landmarks and districts of historical importance in the city. There are two positions on the Landmark Commission expiring in October of 2019. One of the trustees is eligible to re-apply. One trustee is term-limited.

There are two positions on the Planning Commission expiring in October of 2019. One of the trustees may re-apply. One trustee is term-limited.

The Zoning Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial board with the authority to hear certain matters including variances, special exceptions, and appeals. There is one position on the Zoning Board of Adjustment expiring in October of 2019. The trustee is term-limited.

There are nine positions on the Building Board of Adjustments and Appeals Committee expiring in October of 2019. Four of the trustees may re-apply. Five trustees are term-limited.

City Council will decide the new appointments in September in order for the new members to begin in October.

The City of Galveston encourages interested candidates to apply in person at the City Secretary’s office or online at www.galvestontx.gov/servemycity. Applicants may email their completed application and residency affidavit to the City Secretary’s email group at CitySec@galvestontx.gov. 

The affidavit must be notarized before sending it in. The City Secretary’s Office will notarize forms if applicants come in person. The trustees who wish to be reappointed should contact the City Secretary’s Office and indicate if you wish to continue to serve: citysec@galvestontx.gov, 409-797-3510.
