Galveston, TX – August 25, 2020 – Galveston residents who need assistance with transportation and shelter should report to the Island Community Center, 4700 Broadway, before 8 p.m. tonight to board buses.
Throughout the day, the City’s fire, emergency management, police and Island Transit departments have assisted hundreds of residents boarding buses to shelters for those evacuating Hurricane Laura.
Assistance remains available for those who need transportation and shelter, though residents should plan to arrive tonight before 8 p.m. (Tuesday) so buses may get on the road before anticipated storms and traffic.
Residents needing assistance getting to the buses at 4700 Broadway may call 409-765-3710 and they will be picked up by city personnel.
