Programs
The City of Galveston is also undertaking a program to reduce or eliminate sources of storm water pollution from city-operated facilities like the municipal garage, golf course, and other areas.
Much of this program can be accomplished through simple activities such as good housekeeping and spill prevention, response, and cleanup.
In addition, the city has a constant program of street sweeping and storm drain maintenance and cleaning that helps to keep trash, sand, and other debris out of the storm drains.
Purpose
These programs not only help prevent storm water pollution, but also helps to lessen or eliminate areas of ponding and flooding due to clogged storm drains and pipes.
