Galveston competing in statewide community fitness challenge

The New Year is here and we’re participating in a health and wellness challenge!

H-E-B and partners are sponsoring a free, eight-week community challenge to promote health and fitness. Cities and workplaces will compete against each other to see which communities can rack up the most points.

Mayor Jim Yarbrough signed a pledge this month declaring his support and encouraging Galvestonians to get involved in the It's Time Texas community challenge!

From Jan. 7 to March 3, tracking your fitness and submitting the activities you complete will earn points for  our community. The winning community of each size category will receive grant money for fitness-minded projects!

For more information, please visit: https://ittcommunitychallenge.com/en/home

To begin earning points for Galveston and take positive steps for improving or maintaining your health, register at https://ittcommunitychallenge.com/user/register. Registering and logging your exercise earns points for Galveston!

Today is the first day of the challenge -- let's get off to a strong start! 💪🏻💪🏼💪🏽💪🏾💪🏿
